Professional Learning for Educators

Strong instruction reaches far beyond one student.

BEI's professional-learning work helps schools and educators deepen knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction and translate that knowledge into classroom practice.

▣

Training

👁

Demonstration & Observation

↔

Coaching & Collaboration

Support educators as they apply new practices, reflect on implementation, and refine instruction.

From Workshop to Implementation

Professional learning should change what happens with students.

Recent BEI work at Mother Catherine Academy included training eight teachers through classroom demonstrations, individual coaching, professional learning community meetings, and observation sessions.

The program concluded with a detailed debrief to school personnel and administration focused on Science of Reading evidence-based instructional practices and school implementation intended to improve reading proficiency over time.

Professional Standards

BEI also invests in the people who provide specialized instruction.

BEI has maintained a longstanding relationship with the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center (ASDEC), which provides therapist-level training and certification for BEI tutors. Recent summer programming also created hands-on training opportunities for new tutors working toward Certified Academic Language Therapist credentials.

A Boundless Moment

Eight teachers. Months of training. A school building its own capacity.

BEI's Mother Catherine Academy partnership moved beyond a one-day workshop. Teachers received demonstrations, coaching, PLC time, observations, and a final implementation debrief—an example of professional learning designed to live in classrooms after the training ends.
